DOBSON — Mrs. Thelma Mae Tolbert Hall, 81, of 3547 Siloam Road, Dobson, passed away Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, at her home. Mrs. Hall was born Jan. 14, 1928, in Surry County to the late Martin and Pearl Tolbert. Thelma was a member of Bryant’s Chapel Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She is survived by her husband, Jack Hall of Ararat; two daughters and a son-in-law, Lorraine Still of Pilot Mountain and General and Jennie King of Walnut Cove; two sons and a daughter-in-law, John Phillips of Dobson and Harry and Frances Phillips of Mount Airy; 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Frankie Bowman and Hester Lester, both of Bassett, Va., Mary and Phil Sias of Mount Airy and Lilly and Marshall Brooks of Lowgap; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Semediana Torres. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hall was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Phillips; a great-granddaughter, Shasta Wall; two sisters, Kathline Beck and Ann Lee Tolbert; and five brothers, Curtis Tolbert, Bill Tolbert, Arnold Tolbert, David Tolbert and Kenneth Tolbert. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, at Bryant’s Chapel Church conducted by the Rev. Larry Crouse. Burial will follow in the Union Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Bryant’s Chapel Church, where her body will remain until the hour of the service.
