Bryan W. and Crystal H. Flippen of Mount Airy announce the engagement of their daughter, Kari Dawn, to Ricky Lee Casstevens, son of Michael J. and Angie P. Casstevens of Mount Airy.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Jimmy and Carolyn Hodges and the Rev. Woody and Judy Flippen. She graduated from North Surry High School in 2007, Surry Community College in 2010 with an associate’s degree in art and Appalachian State University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology and health science. She is employed as a certified nursing assistant II on labor and delivery at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital, Elkin.
The groom-to-be is the grandson of Francis Casstevens and the late Rev. Jack Casstevens and Mary White and the late Nick Philson. He graduated from North Surry High School in 2003, Guilford Technical Community College in 2007 with an associate’s degree in fire science and Fayetteville State University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science degree in fire science. He is deputy chief of Skull Camp Volunteer Fire Department and is employed as a firefighter with the city of Winston-Salem.
The couple are planning a 4:30 p.m. wedding May 18 at the Pond Gazebo at Cody Creek, Dobson. Following the ceremony, they will reside in Lowgap.
