PILOT MOUNTAIN — It will be an afternoon of sharing Christmas cheer at four area homes this Sunday as the First United Methodist Church sponsors its sixth annual Holiday Tour of Homes.
A quartet of area families will be opening the doors of their homes for the afternoon; all adorned with unusual or unique holiday decorations, including many with special meaning to the family.
Couples serving as hosts for this year’s tour will include Lee and Cecilia Cook of 276 Whitaker Chapel Road, Jason and Grayson Moser of 121 Longview Drive, Jason and Amy Harpe of 155 Downy Brook Lane and Bob and Mickey Scott of 201 Tom’s Creek Bluff Lane.
“We’re really pleased with this year’s tour,” noted Emily Antonecchia. “It should be a really nice tour. We have four homes from different parts of Pilot Mountain and that will be good for the tour. We’re looking forward to seeing each home’s individual approach to Christmas and how it is a special time for their family.”
Among numerous tour highlights, Antonecchia noted that the Cook family’s outdoor patio fireplace would be decorated for the holidays along with a North Carolina State University-themed Christmas tree.
This will mark the second Christmas for the Mosers’ 18-month-old son, Brett, and their home will feature a life-sized animated Santa as well as a tree adorned with ornaments from the family’s personal history and travels.
The Harpe home also reflects a family atmosphere, particularly the rooms of their children, Gabriel and Aiden.
A handmade Santa atop a llama is one of the personal touches at the Scott family home. Also noteworthy is a Christmas tree in the home’s sunroom, which overlooks the mountain.
The tour will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Advance tickets will be available throughout the week from the First United Methodist Church office, 202 S. Stephen St. To assure the office is open or for more information, call 368-4548.
Tickets are $10 and may also be purchased at any participating home during the tour. The self-guided tour may be started from any home. Directions are printed on tickets and signs will be in front of each home. Directions to homes may also be obtained by calling 710-5653.
All proceeds from the day will be used for repairs to the roof of the church’s Family Life Center.
“We had about 150 people take part last year,” Antonecchia said, “and we’ve already had calls about this year’s tour. Everyone is looking forward to it. It should be a fun day filled with all the spirit of the Christmas season.”
