Katie Beth Easter and Shawn Allen LeVan were married at First Baptist Church in Pilot Mountain on Oct. 3, at 5 p.m. Dr. Craig Edwards and the Rev. Frank Hensley performed the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Keith and Lisa Easter, 951 S. Franklin Road, Mount Airy, and the granddaughter of Sandra Barker and the late Paul M. Barker Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. Archie G. Easter. She graduated from Mount Airy High School and Surry Community College and is employed by Mount Airy High School as an exceptional children’s teaching assistant.

The bridegroom is the son of Kenny and Donna Smith of Mount Airy and the grandson of Mrs. Barbara Wood and the late Leon Wood and Mr. and Mrs. Pete Smith. He graduated from Davie County High School. He is a former employee of Freightliner and is now recovering for a burn accident.

The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore an Oleg Cassini strapless, ivory gown featuring all-over lace. The lace bodice was enhanced with delicate beading, crystals and pearls. Below the satin empire waist the flowing skirt featured a lace overlay and sweep train. To complete the vintage look, the bride wore a sheer shoulder-length veil. She carried a bouquet of various fall flowers accented with berries and wheat. In memory of her grandfather, the bride’s grandmother attached a silver pendent to her bouquet that was engraved with a photograph of the bride and her “Pa Paw.”

The matron of honor was Ashley Bryant of Mount Airy. The bridesmaids were Jessica Moore, Melinda Stroud, Tori Nelson and Hannah Smith, all of Mount Airy. They wore long dresses with charmeuse bust and cascading backs in fern green. They carried miniature versions of the bride’s bouquet.

The flower girls were Brea Jordan, cousin of the bride, and Kennedy Smith. They wore ivory satin and tulle dresses and carried matching baskets of fall leaves to throw. The ring bearers were Dakota Leonard and Dalton Leonard, cousins of the bride.

The best man was Kenny Smith, father of the groom. The groomsmen were Paul Barker Jr., uncle of the bride; Kody Easter, brother of the bride; Jake Bryant, Ashley Moore, Wyatt Barker, cousin of the bride, and Travis Powell, all of Mount Airy.

Music was performed by Jennifer Edwards, soloist, and Phil Tilley, soloist. Dr. Craig Edwards played the “Wedding March” on the violin.

The wedding director was Kim Cheek. Guest book attendents were Marsha Lowe and Pam Elliot. Music was provided by Music Express.

Garrett Barker, cousin of the bride, lit a memory candle in honor of the bride’s grandfather. Special attendants were members of the groom’s Burn Support Group and doctors and nurses from the burn unit at Baptist Hospital.

A fall-themed chicken stew reception was hosted by the bride’s parents in the fellowship center. Chicken stew was prepared by Todd and Patricia Tolbert. Assisting in serving were Marie Niland, Marcie Hiatt, Elizabeth Dawson and Melissa Simmons. Greeters at the reception were Mitch and Debi Nelson and Dana Nakomura.

A barbecue dinner was hosted in the church fellowship center on Friday evening for the bridal party.

The couple took a honeymoon cruise to Grand Caymen Island and Cozumel, Mexico.

They reside at 184 Belvue Drive, Mount Airy.
