Police say this home, located at 1164 Linville Road, was used to manufacture and distribute crack cocaine. Prescription drugs were also discovered during a search warrant executed late Wednesday morning.
A search warrant served by the Surry County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday has resulted in three Mount Airy residents being charged and set with a cumulative bail of $175,000, Sheriff Graham Atkinson said Thursday.
Atkinson said the warrant was served late in the morning at 1164 Linville Road in Mount Airy following an investigation into alleged illegal drug activity at the home.
And officers were on the scene until after dark, he added.
“It went on forever,” he said Thursday. “We had a lot of information regarding the home being used for the manufacture and sale of cocaine.
“The search warrant was the result of a lengthy investigation into crack cocaine being manufactured and sold from the residence,” he said.
As a result of the search warrant, Craig Allen Sheff, 33, of the residence, was taken into custody on the following charges:
• Five counts of trafficking in cocaine.
• Two counts of the possession with the intent to manufacture, sell and deliver cocaine.
• Two counts of the sale of cocaine.
• Possession with the intent to sell and deliver marijuana.
• Possession with the intent to sell and deliver Xanax.
• Possession with the intent to sell and deliver Oxycodone.
• Four counts of maintaining a drug house.
• Possession of drug paraphernalia.
Sheff is being held in the Surry County Jail on a $100,000 secured bond.
In addition, Aimee Leigh Bowman, 30, also of the residence, was charged with:
• Two counts of trafficking in cocaine.
• Possession with the intent to sell and deliver marijuana.
• Maintaining a drug house.
• Possession of drug paraphernalia.
She is being held in the Surry County Jail under a $25,000 secured bond.
A third suspect, Morgan Cortese Duncan, 23, of 155 Samurai Lane in Mount Airy, was charged with one count of the possession with the intent to sell and deliver cocaine.
Duncan is being held in the Surry County Jail under a $50,000 secured bond.
Atkinson said it was apparent shortly after officers entered the residence that they were in a drug house.
“As soon as officers entered the home it was obvious that the information we’d obtained was correct,” he said.
When officers entered the residence, they reportedly discovered Sheff and Duncan sitting at a table located at the back door of the residence, Atkinson said.
“Sheff had money in his hands, (and) crack cocaine lying on the table in front of him,” the sheriff noted. “Duncan dropped a bag of cocaine on the floor beside him and I’m not sure you can print what he said.”
As officers began to search the residence, located in a bedroom was an area that officers believe had been used to package and mix cocaine. “This area had a surveillance system that could monitor the front and back of the residence,” Atkinson said.
Officers discovered about four ounces of cocaine in total, with two ounces in the form of crack cocaine and two ounces of powdered cocaine, along with Xanax and Oxycodone packaged for sale.
“Also located throughout the residence was marijuana packaged for sale along with drug paraphernalia, digital scales, razor blades and plastic baggies,” the sheriff said.
According to Atkinson, children also lived at the home, but were not present during the execution of the search warrant.
Officers with the Mount Airy Police Department assisted in the search, Atkinson said.
