Dobson domestic disturbance leaves one dead, officer injured

DOBSON — A Dobson police officer is recovering from injuries received in response to an early morning domestic disturbance call while a civilian involved in the incident was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to Surry County Emergency Services Director John Shelton, the incident occurred at 1:08 this morning at 412 Adams Street in Dobson. The officer was transported to Baptist Hospital for treatment of his injuries and is reported in good condition.

The male involved in the incident, who is reportedly in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene. A third victim, an unidentified female was transported to Northern Hospital for treatment.

Dobson Police Chief Shawn Myers is planning to release more information on the incident once family members of those involved have been notified.
