EAST BEND — The Lady Bears defense dominated yet again Monday night against the Forbush Falcons giving the Lady Falcons two wins in a row, after defeating the Sauras 3-0 last week (25-23, 25-1, 25-13).

In the aggressive game, the Bears kept the ball alive and attacked the Falcons giving them a 3-0 win. The scores were: 25-22, 25-15, 25-17. Last seek in a similar defensive attack they beat the South Stokes Sauras 3-1.

Coach Kim Lyons said that she was very happy with the incredible teamwork, hustle and effort that her Bears are showing.

Earlier in the season, Lyons said, “Defense wins games.” The Lady Bears have not missed a beat since they were defeated by the Alleghany Trojans in what some described as the best defense by two teams they had witnessed this season.

Top scorers in serves were: Taylor Dollyhigh, 15/15; Charli Hiatt, 10/11; and Tessa Rodgers, 14/15.

Tessa Rodgers led with 15 assists and Dana Brown had 11.

Kathryn Beasley led with 13 kills and Dana Brown had five.

Taylor Dollyhigh made sure to contribute in the digs category and registered eight as the high.

Keeping the ball alive utilizing solid defensive teamwork with great communication is working to score victories for this scrappy Lady Bears team. They won again Monday, said Lyons, “because of defense, great hitting, serving and communication.”

They will be hosting West Stokes today.
