Gravestones at Oakdale Cemetery will help those on the first Cemetery Tour offered by the Mount Airy Museum of Regional History on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. uncover the history of Mount Airy and its surrounding areas.
Cemetery tours of Oakdale Cemetery, offered by the Mount Airy Museum of Regional History, will begin this Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
“This is a great way to learn about the history of your area,” said Edwards.
He said the tour would be great for school groups as well as tourists and area residents.
Tours can be booked in advance and taken during the school day.
The tour will take about an hour.
He said these tours are not meant to be scary, but educational. The tours will be every Saturday at the cemetery. They begin at 10:30 a.m. so that those on the tour do not become overheated.
Tickets for the tour are $10.
