MOUNT AIRY — Ms. Pearl Beatrice Lewis Chilton, 88, of Mount Airy, widow of the late Thomas Haakon Chilton, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012, at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. She was born on Nov. 1, 1924, in Walburg to the late Doss and Edna Slate Lewis. She was a housewife, farmer and was a retiree of Protor Silex. Pearl and Haakon Chilton were loved and respected by all family, friends and community. Ms. Chilton is survived by two sons, Douglas (Sylvia) Chilton of Mount Airy and Barry (P.J.) Chilton of Pilot Mountain; two daughters, Patricia Goins Campbell of Mount Airy and Marilyn (Gary) Hoots of Mount Airy; seven grandchildren, Tommy (Amy) Goins, Kevin Goins, April (Michael) Banks, Lauren (Wayne) Banks, Shannon (Michael) Webb, Lanette (Jonathan) Phillips and Kayla Marshall; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews and families. Ms. Chilton was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas Haakon Chilton; one grandchild, Ronda Goins; and three brothers, George, Ernest and Burton Lewis. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Albion Baptist Church with Dr. Ronnie Jessup officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Albion Church cemetery. The Chilton family will receive friends on Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Cox-Needham Funeral Home. The family would like to extend a sincere appreciation to all the caregivers, Central Continuing Care and Woltz Hospice Home for their special treatment given throughout the past six years.
