MOUNT AIRY — Mrs. Mildred Lyons Edwards Carr, 91, of 205 Cedar Knoll Road, Mount Airy, passed away Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Carr was born Sept. 8, 1921, in Surry County to the late James E. and Amie Watkins Edwards. She was a homemaker and member of Trinity Episcopal Church. Surviving are one daughter, Elizabeth Anne Carr of Asheville; three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Bruce Carr, Edward Franklin and Suzanne H. Carr and Dennis Walker and Judy Carr, all of Wilmington, Del.; four grandchildren, Laura Michelle Carr and Jennifer Carr, both of Wilmington, Del., and Jamie Brown and Krystal Brown, both of Asheville; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Jane Edwards Newman; and one brother, Robert H. Edwards. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Carr was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Walker Carr; three sisters, Mary Edward Neil, Rubie Edwards and Louise Edwards Blue; and two brothers, Edward Edwards and Claude W. Edwards. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church with services conducted by the Rev. Raymond Hanna with entombment at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the donors choice.
