Bears victorious over Vikings

DANBURY — The Mount Airy Lady Bears beat the North Stokes Vikings by a score of 71-48 away on Tuesday.

Bears Head Coach Howard Mayo said the team came out sluggish at first, but then moved to force the tempo against the Vikings.

Mayo said, “We did a good job of attacking the basket.”

The Bears hit 21-29 freethrows, shooting 72 percent against North Stokes, said Mayo.

The coach said the team did a good job of converting scoring opportunities, overall.

Jasmine Varney was leading scorer for the Bears with 15 points.

Kathryn Beasley scored 13, Davi Barbour 12, Alex Atkins 10, Mikayla Seivers 7, Andi Moore 6, Skylar Flippen 4, Ayano Shelton 2 and Simone Simmons 2.

Beasley also had 12 rebounds and five assists and Barbour had four steals, said Mayo.
