The Mount Airy boys varsity Bears claimed their first conference win Friday against the Vikings at home and their record moved to 3-3 overall.
Head Coach Levi Goins said Darius Gywn was a game changer in the second half by forcing turnovers and playing incredible defense on Matt Hopkins, Goins said.
Goins said Gwyn kept Vikings high scorer Matt Hopkins to three points through three quarters and Hopkins only managed to get 14 total.
Khaileel Daily was the top scorer for the Bears scoring 16 points. Carson Mounce scored ten for the team and fueled the defense by recording the nights high of seven total blocks, Goins said.
Goins said he would like to verify the Dailey number but said he believed it could be close to the school’s record for a single game, he said.
Austin Taylor scored eight for the team and Caleb Horton pitched in six.
