MOUNT AIRY — Mr. Tyler Buckner, 61, of Mount Airy, passed away Oct. 31, 2009, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Buckner was born in Clay County, Ala., on April 5, 1948, to the late James Hardy and Myrtle Lizabeth Browning Buckner. He attended Jacksonville State University and the University of Alabama in Birmingham before he served in the U.S. Army, serving 23 months in Vietnam, and retired as a truck driver from YRC-Roadway Express in May 2009 after working 37 years. Mr. Buckner was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Buckner is survived by his wife, Patsy Robison Buckner of the home; daughter and son-in-law, April and John T. Spane of Mount Airy; son and daughter-in-law, Brandy C. and Kristi Buckner of Valdosta, Ga.; granddaughter, Stephanie Buckner; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ann Downs of Clayton, Del., Opal and Preston Stone of Talladega, Ala., and Margaret and Bill Stevens of Ft. Smith, Alaska; brothers and sisters-in-law, Teruko Buckner of Clarksville, Tenn., G. Lester and Bobbi Buckner of Alpine, Ala., and G. Harold and Darlene Buckner of Talladega, Ala.; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Buckner was preceded in death by a brother, James P. Buckner; and a brother-in-law, John Downs. A celebration of life memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Oakdale Cemetery with full military rites conducted by VFW Memorial Honor Guard Post 2019 of Mount Airy and Post 9436 of Pilot Mountain.
