DOBSON — Mr. Roby Ray Brooks “Junior,” 82, of Dobson, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. He was born Sept. 20, 1930, in Alleghany County to the late Roby and Carrie McCann Brooks. Mr. Brooks retired from Wayne Farms and was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his brother, Roy Brooks of Dobson; nieces and nephews, Joyce Blevins, Carol Pell, Leonard Brooks, Cathy Hodges, Rhonda Hamm and Gail Snow; 12 great-nieces and nephews; and 14 great-great-nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Brooks was preceded in death by his brother, Marshall Brooks; sisters, Bethel Blevins and Ollie Mayes; and nephew, Lester Brooks. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at 2 p.m. at New Bethel Baptist Church in Dobson, conducted by the Rev. Blain Oakley with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday at the church from noon to 1:30 p.m. Howell Funeral Service of Mount Airy is serving the family.
