BRINTLE

MOUNT AIRY — Jack Brady Brintle, 76, of Mount Airy, passed away Sunday evening, Dec. 16, 2012, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Jack was born on Sept. 8, 1936, to the late Jacob Spencer and Hattie Pearl Nichols Brintle of the White Plains community. He served in the United States Navy and worked at Proctor Silex and later at Vulcan Materials in Winston-Salem. He was a loving and devoted husband, a caring brother and friend to many people. Jack spent his last few years enjoying time with his wife, Brenda. Jack is survived by his wife, Brenda Combs Brintle of the home; a son, Robert Brintle and wife Kathy of Dobson; grandchildren, James and Lauren Brintle, Cortlan and Alisonne Marion; and Brenda’s family including a daughter, Jill Arrington and her two daughters, Skyler and Halston; Jack’s siblings, Hal Brintle and wife Peggy, Blaine Brintle and wife Sue and Harry Brintle, all of Mount Airy, Don Brintle of Florida; a sister, Betsy Hutchens; a sister-in-law, Judy Brintle; a brother-in-law, Richard Larry Combs; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Brintle was preceded in death by a son, Mark Brintle; a daughter, Bethany Brintle; Brenda’s son, Mickey; his mother-in-law, Mamie Jackson Combs; siblings, Frank, Hugh, Garld and Max; and his twin brother, Joe and Johnnie Mae Wackerman. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Bud Cameron, Chaplain Stewart Roten and Gary York. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery with military honors by VFW Memorial Honor Guard, Mount Airy Post 2019 and Pilot Mountain Post 9436. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Mickey Dean Arrington Memorial Scholarship Fund at Surry Community College; Mountain Valley Hospice at 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030; or to Salem United Methodist Church at 124 Myers Drive, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
