Dwight Atkins and Cordie East Armstrong have claimed the two open seats on the Pilot Mountain Board of Commissioners.
With final vote tallies reported shortly after 8:10 p.m., Atkins had 398 of 1,159 votes cast, or 34.34 percent of the total. Armstrong had 284 votes, or 24.5 percent of the total number cast. The two candidates with the most votes won the seats, out of six people running for office.
Both Atkins and Armstrong won comfortably. The third-place candidate was Scott Needham, with 163, or 14.06 percent, and fourth place was Douglas B. Brannon, who tallied 151 votes, or 13.03 percent. Larry H. Wall garnered 99, or 8.54 percent, of the votes and George Gray recorded 62, or 5.35 percent, of the vote total.
