Lisa Danley of Concord, N.J., announces the engagement of her daughter, Kelley O. Aitken, to Derrick W. Manuel, son of Dennis and JoAnn Manuel of Pilot Mountain.

The bride-elect is a 2005 graduate of Concord High School and is a senior at Surry Community College in the nursing program, with plans to graduate in May 2010. She is employed by North Carolina Baptist Hospital in the emergency department.

The bridegroom is a 1999 graduate of East Surry High School and he graduated from Surry Community College in 2001 with an Associate of Applied Science in electronics engineering technology. He is employed by R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company.

The couple is planning a 6 p.m. wedding on Jan. 1, 2010, at Jessup Grove Baptist Church.
