WASHINGTON — Mr. Philip Reed Adkins, 57, of Washington, D.C., and Rehobeth Beach, D.E., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, at the Hahnemann Hospital in Philadelphia, Penn., Mr. Adkins retired as Director of Benefits for the law firm of Arnold & Porter of Washington, D.C. He was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is survived by his life partner of 16 years Richard Meyers, his mother Louise Adkins of Lowgap, sister Alison Groene and husband Donn of Belmont, nephew Robert Farrell and wife Liisa of Raleigh, niece Lindsey Burr and husband Dr. Jarrett Burr of Davidson, his aunt Lorna Adkins of Stuart, Va., and numerous cousins. A graveside service will be held Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the Carson-Hodges Family Cemetery in Lowgap.
