Class Description:
Ever wonder how to make those gorgeously detailed images in polymer clay? Learn how to make flower canes, or “millefiori” canes of polymer clay that can be used to make dozens of similar and beautiful flowers. Condition, cut, stack, slice, mix and before you know it you will have created several canes of different flower petals toward the creation of various flower jewelry and fun knick-knacks. The first flower project will be to make a 2-dimensional flower brooch. From one of the petal canes, students will cut different sized petals and make this flower look as if it is blooming right then and there. The next look at a flower making will be to make a “component” flower that resembles the look of inlay work. These look dramatic on the cover of an Altoid tin. The last project will be to reduce a petal to a miniature size in order to create a flower to go inside a bezel. After that is baked, students will enclose this in an UV resin that will make the flower look like it is under glass. Students may have to make a pair of earring to go with this pendant. Oh, what a bouquet of flowers you will go home with that will never fade or wilt away!
