Two of America’s smartest men are black; they are joined by one of its best football players, also black.
Jason Riley, Thomas Sowell, and Burgess Owens write that black poverty is due to federal government policy and prolonged welfarism. Reverend Sharpton and his disciples, however, say that black underperformance is due to slavery and the remnants of Jim-Crowism.
They seem to be asking the white community for more-or-less constant public atonement and continued financial subsidy, which begs the question: how long must atonement continue? How long must we apologize for something that happened before we were born?
