Lowgap facility to host haunted house

LOWGAP — Haunted houses staged this time of year usually provide thrills, and maybe some laughs, but one starting this week in Lowgap also will scare up support for a community institution.A series of haunted house events — for which the theme is “Contagion” — gets under way Friday at Lowgap Community Center and will continue each Friday and Saturday night through Nov. 1. The final week of the series includes three days covering the Halloween period, Oct. 30-Nov.1, for 11 dates in all.The haunted house will be open from 8-11 p.m. each of those days. It is sponsored by the law office of Karen J. Adams.Lowgap Community Center, the former Lowgap Elementary School, is located at 9070 W. Pine St.



In a Wednesday story regarding an audit report for Commissioner Paul Johnson, it was incorrectly reported that Johnson did not attend a Council of Governments Ethics Training meeting in Winston-Salem, for which he received a travel reimbursement. Johnson in fact did attend that meeting.
