PILOT MOUNTAIN — East Surry beat East Forsyth 3-0 in volleyball Monday afternoon.

The Lady Cardinals improved to 4-0 on the season with a sweep of the 4A Lady Eagles 25-12, 25-16 and 25-17.

“I thought we played well for the most part,” said head coach Caleb Gilley. “We didn’t really know East Forsyth coming in, so we treated it like a state playoff game.”

Gilley kept fresh legs on the floor as he used his entire bench. Setter Olivia Sheets even sat out the entire third set as Hannah Joyce took her spot.

“I thought our passing was very good for the most part,” said Gilley. Everyone got some game experience and did some good things, but there is always stuff to continue working on.

Sheets had 21 assists, 10 digs and two aces in two sets. Joyce had six assists and two aces.

Kacie Markle had 10 kills, seven digs and two aces. Kristel Hicinbothem had eight kills and two aces. Cheyenne Kota had seven kills and three aces.

Sydney Marion had two kills and one block. Jessi Marion had two kills and eight digs.

Libero Sydney Mosley led the defense with 12 digs.

East Surry travels to West Stokes today, then hosts Bishop McGuinness on Thursday.
