PILOT MOUNTAIN — The Lady Cardinals came from behind to beat Forbush 7-6 at home.

East Surry was down 2-0, then 4-2 and then 6-4, but rallied each time for a win over the 2A opponent.

The Lady Falcons scored two runs in the first inning, but the Cards got two of their own in the second.

When the Falcons scored twice in the fourth inning, the Cards didn’t waste any time and got those two back in the bottom half of the inning.

In the top of the sixth, the Falcons went ahead for the last time with two runs.

The Cards answered with three runs to take a 7-6 lead, then shut the door in the top of the seventh for the win.

Laken Bowman went five and one-third innings, giving up two earned runs. Emily Cummings pitched one and two-thirds and gave up three walks and two earned runs.

The heart of the Cards’ order accounted for most of the offensive damage.

Third hitter Amber Lawson was 2-3 with a single, double and two runs scored. Cummings was 2-3 with a single, homer, three runs scored and two RBIs. Bowman was 2-3 with a double, homer, two runs scored and three RBIs.

The win improves the Cards’ record to 13-4 and drops Forbush to 13-3. Forbush is the only team to beat North Surry (14-1) so far this season, but couldn’t top East Surry.
