Jeff Linville, long-time sports writer for The Mount Airy News, has been named Regional Sports Content Director by Civitas Media LLC, the parent company of The Mount Airy News.
In this new capacity, Linville will help coordinate and oversee prep and community sports coverage for a number of Civitas Media newspapers in the Mount Airy area. Those include not only The Mount Airy News, but the Stokes News, The Elkin Tribune, The Yadkin Ripple, The Carroll News, The Jefferson Post and The Pilot Mountain News.
He will continue writing and photographic coverage of local sports as well.
“Jeff has been with us for a few years in sports and has done an excellent job,” said Mount Airy Regional Editor John Peters. “He knows the local sports scene, understands what an important part sports plays in our coverage of the local community, and will now be able to share more of that expertise and experience with other sports writers in our region.”
“I am a life-long sports nut who as a child had a bedspread and curtains with NFL logos all over them,” said Linville. “I still have a few thousand baseball and football cards stored away.”
Linville joined The Mount Airy News as a sports writer and photographer in 2010. Prior to that, he had worked at The News as a news and city government reporter from 1995 to 2000, spent eight years working for trade publication Furniture Today in High Point, and worked for a couple of years as a freelance writer.
He assumes his new duties immediately, and will remain based in Mount Airy.
