DOBSON — Surry Central’s tennis team bounced back from a loss on Monday to defeat South Stokes 9-0 in conference action.

The Golden Eagles swept singles 6-0 to wrap up the win in Western Piedmont Conference play.

The Eagles lost to the other Eagles of Wilkes Central on Monday, but made short work of the Sauras.

Top seed Zach Wilmoth defeated Thomas Carroll 6-0, 6-2. Kirk Needham won 6-1, 6-2 over Drew Hicks.

Third seed Trent Day beat Dylan Fulp 7-5, 6-0. Weston Payne won 6-0, 6-2 over Dylan Price.

Fifth seed Tanner Mears beat Bryce Fulp 6-4, 6-3. Zach Cochran swept Blake Bullins 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles, Wilmoth and Day won 8-4 over Carroll/Hicks.

Needham and Mosley won 8-3 over Dylan Fulp/Price.

At the third spot, Andrew Hegler and Ben Shinault beat Bryce Fulp/Bullins 8-1.

The Sauras are young and rebuilding, but it still gives the team a chance to get a needed win before taking on rival North Surry today, said Coach Mark Parsons.

In the first meeting, the Eagles won 7-2 at home. Still, Parsons knows the Hounds are improving and could make this a very tough outing.
