DOBSON — Surry Central blanked Forbush in tennis 9-0 Thursday.

The Golden Eagles put on a dominant display, winning every set in singles and doubles with a total score of 96-13.

Top seed Zach Wilmoth won 6-0, 6-2 over Avery Adams. Trent Day won 6-2, 6-0 over Tyler Upchurch.

Third seed Kirk Needham swept Josh Pearson 6-0, 6-0.

Fourth seed Weston Mosley had the longest match of the afternoon, but still won decisively at 6-0, 6-3 over Wade Jones.

Tanner Mears won 6-0, 6-1 over Winston Fleming. Andrew Hegler defeated Travis Hester 6-1, 6-0.

Because Mosley’s match lasted so long, Coach Mark Parsons chose to sit Mosley and partner Needham for doubles.

Mears and Hegler played the second spot, and Zach Cochran and Jose Montero played the third seeds.

Wilmoth and Day won 8-1 over Adams/Pearson.

Mears and Hegler won 8-2 over Upchurch/Fleming.

Cochran and Montero won 8-1 over Jones/Hester.

This was first match for the Eagles in the new Western Piedmont Conference. The first match would have been Tuesday against North Surry, but that one was rained out. The Eagles and Hounds play today in Dobson.
