GREENSBORO — Junior Julia Sheehan of Mount Airy recently finished her second season as a member of the Guilford College swimming team.

A freestyle and butterfly specialist, Sheehan had the fastest time on the team in the 100-yard butterfly Oct. 11 at the 2013 Converse Invitational with a time of 1:18.85. Her time of 3:12.25 in the 200-yard fly at the same meet was also Guilford’s best. Sheehan’s season-best individual medley time of 8:03.16 was fourth-fastest on the team. Sheehan ranked sixth on the team with 52.25 points.

Head Coach Emily Wilson’s Quakers placed ninth in the ODAC Championships and finished the season with a 0-9 overall record, 0-8 in the ODAC. Wilson hopes to return nine letter winners in 2013.

Sheehan transferred to Guilford from Howard Community College in August 2012.

Sheehan lettered under coaches Joanna Refvem and Amy Bledsoe at Mount Airy High School and swam on the Bears’ 400-yard relay team at the 2009 and 2010 state swimming championships. She also played soccer and ran cross-country.
