KERNERSVILLE — Bishop McGuinness beat Atkins 38-27 to advance to the girls’ final of the Northwest Conference Tournament.

The Lady Villains fell behind 10-5 in the first quarter, but bounced back with a 16-3 second quarter to take a 21-13 halftime lead.

The teams played evenly in the second half, and the Lady Camels couldn’t cut into the deficit.

Tessa Johnston led Bishop with 12 points. Julia Brown and Cameron Nieters had seven each. Tia Cappuccio had six points, Alex Putman four and Danielle Nieters two.

Bishop hit 15 of 21 from the foul line (71 percent).

The Villains await the winner of tonight’s game between Mount Airy and Winston-Salem Prep, played on Bishop’s home court.

Then the final will be Friday at Bishop at 6:30 p.m.
