The Dobson First Baptist Church opened its summer youth sports camp on Monday and will continue hosting it through Friday.

Instructors lead and instruct in a different sporting event each day.

Instructor Angie Graham and Surry Central High School students Kennedy Dockery, Marlee Wilmoth and Chase Graham took time out of their summer schedules Tuesday. They volleyed and set up drills at the Surry Community College tennis courts.

Wilmoth said, “It is fun. I love doing it.”

The sports camp includes fundamental drills in football, baseball, basketball and tennis, cheerleading and soccer, said Dockery.

Dockery and Wilmoth said several other high school students also will volunteer time coaching throughout the week. Some include: Seth Thomas, Brad Davis, Mallory Wilmoth, Carter Graham, Jackson Gates, Brittany and Brooke Lewis, Caden and Cole Leonard.

Anyone may sign up for one or more days until the camp concludes, said Wilmoth.

The camp begins at 8:30 a.m. and the day ends at 11:30 a.m.

For more information on the camp, contact Dobson First Baptist Church, 214 S. Crutchfield St., Dobson, at 356-2111.
