Mrs. Eva Penn Bowman 96 of 2163 North Main Street, Mount Airy was called to her Heavenly home on June 5, 2014 in Winston Salem, NC. She was born in Stokes County on February 11, 1918 to the late Jerry Reid Penn and Maxie Sawyers Penn. She leaves to cherish her memory 6 daughters Rev. Dr. Juanita Bowman Tatum and William of Winston Salem, NC; Claudette Bowman Fluckus; of Lanham, MD; Evelyn Bowman Travis of Mount Airy, NC; ( James) of Flint MI; Arlene Bowman Speller of Burtonsville, MD; Linda Bowman Clinkscale of Bowie, MD; Ianthia Bowman Douglas and Barry of Bowie, MD; two daughters-in-law Marva Sims of PA; Ann Bowman of Winston Salem, NC; 63 Grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters Virginia Jarvis of Mount Airy, NC, and Cathleen Penn Cox of Steelton, PA; and host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. A special thanks to Oak Forest Health and Rehabilitation Center, Winston Salem NC, Hospice Palliative Care, Winston Salem NC, and our family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Claude Gray Bowman; two sons Larry Duke Bowman and Linzey Gray Bowman, two sisters Odessa Penn Chivis of Washington, DC, Martha Penn Roberts; 3 brothers Leonard Penn, Vesta Penn and Jerry Penn. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday June 9, 2014 at 1:30pm at Ararat Missionary Baptist Church, Mount Airy, NC. Rev. James Travis will be the eulogist and burial will follow in the Ararat Cemetery, Mount Airy, NC, Rev. Chad Manns, Pastor of Ararat Missionary Baptist Church will officiate the service. Family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 prior to the funeral service, at the J.J. Jones Auditorium; Mount Airy, NC. Spencer Funeral Directors are in charge of all services and arrangements.
