• A Mount Airy man is facing violations of shoplifting, possession of stolen goods and second-degree trespassing after an incident Sunday at Dollar General on North Renfro Street, according to city police department reports. Brandon Wilson Key, 26, of 149 Hamburg St., allegedly concealed beer and miscellaneous merchandise at the business. Key also had been banned from the store previously, resulted in the trespassing offense. He is free on a written promise to appear in Surry District Court on Oct. 28.

• A traffic stop on West Lebanon Street for displaying a fictitious license plate led to that violation and others being filed Sunday against Jennifer Ann James, 30, of 249 E. Poplar St., including driving while license revoked, no insurance and an inspection violation. James was held in the Surry County Jail under a $500 secured bond, with Sept. 24 her court date.

• Travis Dwayne Hardy, 33, of 1402 McKinney Road, was charged with driving while impaired Sunday after a traffic crash in the parking lot of Sheetz on U.S. 601. Hardy is free on a written promise to appear in Surry District Court on Sept. 25.

• Javon Willis Vernon, 19, of 372 Gravely St., was cited for second-degree trespassing Saturday after being spotted by city Parks and Recreation Director Catrina Alexander at Riverside Park, from which he had been banned by police earlier this year. Vernon fled on foot, but was subsequently located on Brunswick Lane near Riverside Drive. His District Court date is Sept. 10.

• Amy Louis Quesinberry, 35, of 436 Crotts Road, was charged with assault Friday at Family Dollar on Carter Street. Quesinberry is accused of continuing to strike the assault victim after being told not to interfere with a larceny investigation at the store. She is free on a written promise to appear in Surry District Court on Sept. 25.

• A larceny offense was filed Friday against Amy Cassandra Moore, 32, of Austinville, Va., after she allegedly stole steaks valued at $85 from Walmart. Moore’s court date is Nov. 5.

• Daniel Carlos McNeil II, 29, of 274 Webster Road, was served with an outstanding warrant for hit and run Friday at Walmart, where he was located by an officer who was aware of the warrant that was issued on Aug. 7. No details regarding the alleged hit and run were listed, with McNeil free on a written promise to appear in District Court on Oct. 1.

• Krysta Louise Colna, 22, of Laurel Fork, Va., turned herself in at the police station Friday on a hit and run offense that resulted from the investigation of an incident in the Walmart parking lot. Colna is scheduled to be in District Court on Sept. 18.
