A bingo and barbecue bash is planned Friday in the auditorium at L.H. Jones Family Resource Center to raise money for a heating/air-conditioning project in the center’s conference room.
Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and the games are to begin at 6:30 p.m., with Longaberger, Thirty-One, Southern Living at Home, Silpada, Victoria’s Secret and other products offered as prizes.
The cost is $20 for 60 chances, three chances per game. A coverall game is planned.
A raffle and silent auction also will be part of the event, with door prizes to be given as well.
Barbecue sandwiches and other food items are to be sold during the gathering.
The project to improve the heating and air-conditioning system for the conference room has a price tag of $20,000, according to Annalisa Davis, director of L.H. Jones Family Resource Center.
Multiple events such as Friday’s bingo and barbecue bash are planned to meet that expense, including one held earlier this year.
L.H. Family Resource Center houses a number of community-service programs, including senior citizens activities, Head Start, public transportation services, Yokefellow Ministries, satellite programs of Surry Community College and others.
The center is located at 215 Jones School Road.
