• A Mount Airy woman was cited for two counts of larceny Sunday in connection with separate incidents at Walmart during the weekend, according to city police department reports. Vickie Haynes Sizemore, 36, of 190 N. Franklin Road, was encountered by police at the store Sunday in connection with one of the alleged thefts, involving merchandise valued at $16. She also was cited for an incident Saturday in which merchandise valued at $32 was taken. Sizemore is scheduled to appear in Surry District Court on Nov. 5.

• Police are investigating a case of obtaining property by false pretense which was reported Saturday, stemming from more than $1,000 in miscellaneous automotive products and a $200 gift card being charged at Advance Auto Parts on Rockford Street on an account the party purchasing the merchandise was not authorized to use. Listed as a victim, along with Advance Auto Parts, is Charles Larry White of Salem Fork Road, Elkin.

• Jonathan Raymond Swiney, 28, of 105 W. Oakdale St., was jailed under a $25,000 secured bond Thursday after he allegedly was seen taking property from neighbors’ yards, including a Troy-Bilt weedeater and 5-gallon gas cans. Tammy Fleming Easter, a North Main Street resident, is said to have witnessed the wrongdoing and aided police in locating the suspect and the property, which was found at Swiney’s home and returned to owners Tera Nichole Fleming and David Blackburn Taylor, both of North Main Street. In addition to larceny, Swiney, who police records state was “arrested on sight,” is charged with possession of stolen goods and possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance (Xanax). His District Court date is Nov. 14.

• Sidney Walker Spencer Jr., 31, of 162 Barberry Place, was charged Thursday with felony breaking and entering and felonious larceny in connection with a crime discovered earlier that day at The Optical Place on North Andy Griffith Parkway, where undisclosed sums of currency and change; a Visa credit card; and four pair of Rudy Rydon, Rudy Project Jazz Shock and other sunglasses were stolen after a secured door was entered. Spencer was arrested after being found in possession of the stolen property, which was recovered, and gave a written confession to the break-in, according to police records. He was released under a $10,000 unsecured bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 17.
