PILOT MOUNTAIN — The First United Methodist Church Children’s Committee has announced plans for the fall version of its biannual “Sweet Repeats” children’s consignment clothing sale, with registration now under way.
Scheduled to take place on Sept. 19, 20 and 21, the Thursday-Saturday sale will again offer an assortment of gently used children’s clothing and accessories at a fraction of their original price. Thursday’s scheduled hours are 6 to 9 p.m. along with extended Friday hours of 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
Items to be offered by area consignors will include children’s clothing, toys, some baby equipment, maternity clothes, nursery bedding, books, sports equipment, shoes, Halloween costumes and other items related to children. Clothing is offered in sizes 0-16, with smaller sizes usually proving most popular.
Now in its fifth year, the sale has grown steadily throughout its history. According to organizers, the established formula allows families to clear closets of outgrown but still quality clothing and accessories. These families and others may then take advantage of the offerings to purchase quality children’s clothing for cooler temperatures at prices much less than retail.
“This is a way for families in our community to recycle quality children’s clothing and equipment,” explained Amanda Cook, a primary organizer. “It’s a great source of fall and winter clothing just in time for the fall season and for school.”
And, according to organizers, also important is that a portion of each sale will provide opportunities for the church’s children’s program during the coming months.
“This helps our church and our community,” Cook said.
