SEATTLE — Michael Dobson made his preseason debut with the Seattle Seahawks during Friday’s 41-14 victory against the San Diego Chargers.
The 6-foot, 191-pound defensive back and Mount Airy native had one solo tackle in the game. With 2:37 left in the fourth quarter, Dobson tackled Mike Flacco after an eight-yard pass from Brad Sorenson.
Dobson signed with the defending Super Bowl champions on Aug. 6, just prior to the preseason opener against the Denver Broncos. Seattle had the NFL’s top defense a year ago — leading the league in interceptions, pass defense and total defense.
Dobson, a former running back/defensive back at Mount Airy High School, led the Bears to an undefeated season and state crown in 2008. He played college football at East Carolina and had 14 tackles and an interception in his final college game.
Dobson participated in the Seahawks’ rookie minicamp in May. Seattle’s next preseason game is Friday at home against the Chicago Bears.
