Jessica Frank Lang of Washington, D.C., and Matthew Gerald Simmons of Mount Airy exchanged vows on May 18, 2013, at the Co-Cathedral of St. Thomas More in Tallahassee, Fla. Father Christian Winkeljohn officiated.
The bride’s mother is Deborah Frank of Tallahassee, and her father and stepmother are Alan and Laura Lang of Waynesville. Her grandparents are Florian and Dorothy Frank of Avoca, Wis., and the late Edward and Phyllis Lang of Cincinnati, Ohio.
The bride graduated from The Maclay School in Tallahassee. She earned a bachelor’s with distinction from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2003 and her juris doctorate, cum laude, from the University of Georgia. She is an attorney and in-house counsel for the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers.
The groom’s parents are Audie and Mary Faye Simmons of Mount Airy. His grandparents are the late Seymore and Elizabeth Norman, and Glenda and the late Richard Simmons. all of Mount Airy.
The groom graduated in 2000 from East Surry High School in Pilot Mountain. He is a 2004 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is employed at Pike Electric LLC as region vice-president.
The bride was given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, Alan Lang.
The maid of honor was Marisa Rosen of Orlando, Fla.
The matron of honor was Rosemary Evans of Tallahassee.
The bridesmaids were Sarah Alves of Washington, D.C.; Megan Kiernan, stepsister of the bride, of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; Elizabeth Oscar of Tallahassee; Kimberly Sexton of Washington, D.C.; and Margaret Wright of Washington, D.C.
The best man was Audie Simmons, father of the groom, of Mount Airy.
The ushers were Justin Simmons, brother of the groom, of Mount Airy; John Paschal of Raleigh; Benjamin Barbee of Greensboro; Kelly Lang, brother of the bride, of San Diego; Maximilian Lang, brother of the bride, of Nashville, Tenn.; and Justin Hudson of Raleigh.
The reception was hosted by the bride’s parents and held at the Goodwood Museum and Gardens in Tallahassee.
The rehearsal dinner was held the night before the wedding at the Hotel Duval in Tallahassee and hosted by the groom’s parents.
The newlyweds now reside in Winston-Salem.
