A Wednesday afternoon accident resulted in a Pilot Mountain woman being airlifted to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in critical condition, according to county emergency personnel.

Emergency Services Director John Shelton said Thursday morning that Tara Mae Beck, 24, of Bridal Path Trail, was ejected from a vehicle during the accident, which occurred shortly before 3:30 p.m.

The accident occurred when the driver of a Jeep Cherokee, John Thaddeus Hayes, 24, also of the Bridal Path Trail address, reportedly lost control of the vehicle on Community Building Road near Murray Moore Drive.

“It looks like he ran off the right side of the road, over-corrected and overturned,” Shelton said.

Beck was reportedly ejected from the vehicle.

Shelton said she was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

No information about potential charges as a result of the accident was available.
