This is a view of a home at 191 Willis Road in Mount Airy damaged by fire Wednesday night. No one was reported hurt in connection to the incident which is still under investigation. Damage to the property is estimated at $100,000 with another $10,000 to the single family home's contents.

No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported in connection with a structure fire on 191 Willis Road Wednesday night. According to Mount Airy Fire Chief Zane Poindexter, the cause for the fire is still undetermined and remains under investigation.


First responders reported fire was visible through the roof of the center of the home and was concentrated early on in the interior of the home in the roof. Estimated damage to the property is $100,00 with $10,000 damage to the home’s contents. The owner of the home was identified as Misty Collins Snow, and none of the occupants were home at the time of the blaze.


The department reports the alarm was received after 11:24 p.m. with the first unit arriving a little over two minutes later. Poindexter reports it took firefighters a little over 16 minutes to bring the fire under control. The incident was investigated by Poindexter, Captain Danny Vipperman and Firefighter Travis Grey. The occupants of the single family dwelling were not home at the time of the fire. Sixteen firefighters were involved


Poindexter reports other resources called in for the fire included Franklin Volunteer Fire Department, Bannertown Volunteer Fire Department, four Way Volunteer Fire Department, Mount Airy Rescue Squad and Surry County Emergency Medical Services.
