DOBSON — A body found Saturday in the Lowgap community has been identified as that of a 56-year-old woman who had been reporting missing from her home about three days before.
There are no “obvious signs of foul play” regarding the death of Ferdinanda Biar, 56, the Surry County Sheriff’s Office announced this morning. The body has been sent to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem for an autopsy to pinpoint the cause of death.
Biar resided at 129 Appaloosa Trail in Lowgap.
Saturday around noon, the sheriff’s office was notified that a body had been located in a creek in a wooded area off that road. The discovery was made about 1,000 yards from Biar’s home, Lt. David Hamlin said today.
Responding officers subsequently identified the deceased as Biar, who had been reported missing from her residence Wednesday evening.
A tracking dog had been used during a search of the area around the home, yielding no results.
