Post to host Halloween costume contest
Best costumes will compete for cash prizes
This is the season of costumes and parties, and at the Jefferson Post, we are making the party virtual.
As Halloween is quickly approaching, we are asking the community to post their best photos in costumes for a chance to win up to $150. Our local sponsors are getting involved as well.
“This is a great and fun event for the community,” said Ric Woodie of Parker Tie Co. “Everybody should put on their best costumes to have a chance to win some money.”
Winners will be selected by people going online and voting once a day for people pictured in their costumes. There will be four categories, which are: funniest, cutest, scariest and the most original.
The overall winner will receive $150 while the winner in each individual category will win $50.
The Jefferson Post will start accepting contest submissions on Oct. 20. Competitors can submit photos of their costumes through Nov. 2 to qualify for the prizes.
“Come out and let’s see who is the cutest this Halloween,” said Brent Pitts, owner of ‘Tis the Season for All Seasons in West Jefferson. The business is sponsoring the cutest competition.
Voting for the event starts Nov. 3, and will run through Nov. 9. To vote go to www.jeffersonpost.com, click on the Virtual Costume Party logo and follow the directions.
Taking part in the contest is completely free and the only thing required of you is a costume – and an email address.
The sponsors for this year’s Virtual Halloween Costume contest are: Parker Tie, Tis the Season for All Seasons, James Vannoy & Sons Inc., Dr. Charles W. Jones and Bella Ragazza.
“Dr. Jones and our staff wish you a ‘Spook-tacular’ Halloween fun day,” said Tena Reinhardt of Dr. Charles W. Jones’ medical practice.
The contest promotes Halloween fun within the Ashe County community and is great for children and adults alike.
Whether you dress as a cute angel or a scary goblin, get involved and have your family and friends vote for your costume. After all, what is there to lose?
We at the Jefferson Post hope you will join us and enjoy your Halloween season.
