With nearly perfect weather, over 600 folks attended the Doc Watson Tribute Concert in Todd last weekend.
“A big thank you to all who came out to the Doc Watson Tribute concert last Saturday,” said Helen Barnes-Reilly, one of the annual event’s many organizers.
The weather could not have been more perfect for the concert and the music was awe inspiring as always. Thank you Jens, Uwe, Joel, Wayne Henderson and Charles Welch. Plus they want to come back next year and do it again, said Barnes-Reilly.
This weekend is Labor Day weekend and it’ll be another great time to be in Todd. On Saturday, Aug. 31, Fleetwood Folk will be coming back to the Todd Mercantile for an encore performance. They will be playing outside on the porch/parking area – weather permitting, inside if it isn’t - the music starts at 2 p.m.
Then on Sunday starting at 1 p.m., the second annual Todd Community Preservation Organization Ice Cream Social will get under way in Cook Memorial Park. The Wooten Family Singers will be performing and if you haven’t heard them you are in for a treat. They all have incredible voices with amazing harmony that will delight and inspire the whole family with their Christian music. Plus, if you’re a baker or an ice cream maker there will be contests, too. There will be prizes for the best homemade ice cream, best pie and best cake. The ice cream will be provided by the TCPO and is free, yes, FREE ICE CREAM; just bring a topping to share. Hope to see you all there.
Earlier that morning (Sunday, Sept. 1) the South Fork Baptist Church invites everyone to join them for Sunday services in the park and also that same evening at 6 p.m. for Bible Study and free hot dog.
