Surry County Sheriff Reports


DOBSON — The Surry County Sheriff’s Office has released the following arrest reports:

• Courtney Nacord Long, 38, Eleanor Avenue, Mount Airy, was served warrant Oct. 7 for felonious restraint, assault on a female and communicating threats, all dated Aug. 11. He received a $40,000 secured bond and an Oct. 30 court date.

Long was released from prison on Christmas Eve 2015 after less than four years of a “minimum” sentence of five years, six months in January 2012 for the crimes of two counts of child abuse, two counts of intimidating witnesses and achieving the status of habitual felon. He spent from September 2016 to March 2017 in prison for probation violation.

In 2008 Long had been found guilty of possession with intent to sell/deliver a schedule II drug, maintaining a drug dwelling, possession of a schedule VI drug, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He spent 13 months in prison.

• Taylor Deann King, 27, of Allred Mill Road, Mount Airy, was served a warrant Oct. 5 for failure to appear in court that day. She was given a $1,000 secured bond and an Oct. 25 court date. Charges she faces that day include possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, no vehicle registration and multiple counts of driving while license revoked (not impaired).

She also has a Nov. 1 court date on the docket for the charges of resisting an officer, assault on a government employee, driving while license revoked (not impaired), possession of drug paraphernalia, and felony possession of a schedule II drug.

• Joseph Anthony Hardy, 47, of Chandler Road, Dobson, was stopped Oct. 5 in Boonville for driving while impaired and then also served warrants for two counts of larceny and three counts of obtaining property by false pretense. He was given an $11,000 secured bond and court dates of Nov. 14 and Dec. 5.

• James David Bergeron, 58, of Main Street, Dobson, was served a warrant Oct. 6 for sexual battery. The victim is listed as Krista Lee Marie Brown of the same address. He was given a $1,000 secured bond and a Dec. 4 court date.

• Terry Chantler Mitchell, 34, of Walker Road, Elkin, was served an order for arrest Oct. 6 for failure to appear in court the day before to face a charge of second-degree trespassing. He was given a $500 secured bond and a Nov. 13 court date.

• James Robert Brintle, 21, of Turkey Ford Road, Dobson, was served a warrant Oct. 8 for possession of drug paraphernalia, dated Sept. 22. He was given a $500 secured bond and a Nov. 28 court date.

• Codie Mackenzie O’Neil Clement, 25, of Old Buck Shoals Road, Mount Airy, was served a warrant Oct. 8 for possession of drug paraphernalia, dated Sept. 21. She received a $500 secured bond and an Oct. 18 court date.

• Amber Rose Spainhour, 29, of Pipers Gap Road, Mount Airy, was served an order for arrest Oct. 8 for failure to appear in court Aug. 24 on a charge of larceny of a vehicle. She was given a $4,000 secured bond and a court date the next day.

• Madeline Marie Dunning, 22, of Trails End Lane, Mount Airy, was served warrants Oct. 8 for larceny and possession of stolen goods, both dated Sept. 25. She was given a $373 bond and a Dec. 5 court date.

• Amber Lea Gravely, 24, of Soldier Lane, Ararat, was served an order for arrest Oct. 9 for failure to appear in court that day on charges of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. She was given a $1,500 secured bond and a Nov. 1 court date.

Another arrest report lists Gravely with missing a court date on Sept. 11, but doesn’t list any charges. For that date, she was given a $10,000 secured bond and a Nov. 8 court date.

• Justin William Luebke, 26, of Stoker Lane, Elkin was served an order for arrest Oct. 9 for failure to appear in court April 4. The original charge was not listed. He was given a $300 cash bond and a court date later that day.

• Leslie Michelle Atkins, 37, of U.S. 601, Dobson, was served an order for arrest Oct. 9 for failure to appear in court Oct. 4 on charges of larceny and driving while license revoked (impaired). She was given a $1,000 secured bond and a Nov. 8 court date.

• Kevin Phillip Danley, 24, of Danley Road, Ararat, was served an order for arrest Oct. 9 for failure to appear in court Sept. 22 on a charge of possession of a schedule II drug. He was given a $570 secured bond and a Nov. 15 court date.

• Travis William Barker, 32, of Barker Hollow Lane, Lowgap, was served an order for arrest Oct. 9 for failure to appear in court that day to face a charge of probation violations. He was given a $5,000 secured bond with a court date the next day.
