A 17-year-old has died from gunshot wounds he received more than a week ago, and a Mount Airy man has been charged in the death.
Devan Skyler Upchurch, 17, of 170 Long St., Mount Airy, died this weekend from wounds he received during a domestic incident that erupted in gunfire at his home on Sept. 28, according to Surry County Sheriff Jimmy Combs.
Chad Delano Rose, 34 of 170 Long St., Mount Airy, has been charged with numerous offenses connected to the incident, including first degree murder.
Additional charges filed against Rose include one count of felony attempted first degree murder; two counts of felony first degree kidnapping; and one count of felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Additional charges include two counts of misdemeanor child abuse; three counts of misdemeanor assault in the presence of a minor; three counts of misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a minor; one count of misdemeanor assault; and one count of misdemeanor damage to real property, according to the sheriff.
