THURMOND — An Elkin woman died Monday afternoon from injuries sustained in a crash after she pulled in the path of an oncoming logging truck.
Deanna Simmons Brooks, 72, of Brookhill Court, was traveling southwest off of Thurmond Post Office Road at 2:40 p.m. and made a left turn onto southbound U.S. 21 when she failed to yield to a logging truck traveling north on 21, pulling into its path of travel, according to the accident report by Trooper C.M. Anderson with the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
The Lloyd Bowlin Logging 1999 Freightliner truck, driven by Dusty Ray Anderson, 37, of Summit Drive, Purlear, struck Brooks’ 2017 Honda SUV and pushed it left of center, according to the report.
Brooks was airlifted to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center where she later died, according to the police report.
There were no charges in the incident.
