Police reports


• Property damage estimated at $1,200 was discovered Monday at a local bank, according to Mount Airy Police Department reports. The incident occurred at PNC Bank of Mount Airy in the 500 block of North Main Street, where an unknown suspect threw a bottle into a glass window.

• Wesley Arnold Barker, 48, of 2145 Old Lowgap Road, Lowgap, was cited for larceny Monday at Tractor Supply Co. on Rockford Street, where a store employee allegedly saw him take merchandise valued at $33. Barker is scheduled to appear in Surry District Court on Nov. 21.

• Elliott Gray Stanley, 28, of 1306 Northridge St., was cited for larceny on Sept. 25, when an employee of the Big Lots store on Carter Street allegedly witnessed him steal property valued at $14. Stanley’s court date is Nov. 21.

• Joe Lewis Hatcher, 67, of 519 Linville Road, is facing violations of resisting, obstructing or delaying a public officer; driving while impaired; and displaying an expired license plate, which were filed on Sept. 24 after a traffic stop on Riverside Drive near Kyle Street. Hatcher is free on a $1,000 unsecured bond to appear in District Court on Nov. 20.

• Police learned on Sept. 23 of an incident in which an unknown suspect attempted to withdraw money from an ATM using a stolen financial transaction card owned by Jeanette Marie Terry of Lawrence Lane, Dobson. The incident occurred at Circle K on Rockford Street.

• A break-in and larceny were discovered on Sept. 22 at the residence of John Walter Stringer on Robin Road, where property with a total value of $149, including a 10-amp battery charger and five-quart and one-quart containers of Pennzoil motor oil, were stolen from an unsecured garage.

• Dana Meador Sander, 49, of 488 Old Buck Shoals Road, was arrested on charges of felonious possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop of a 2011 Dodge Avenger on Edgewood Drive near Rockford Street on Sept. 19. Sander was held in the Surry County Jail under a $2,500 secured bond and slated for an Oct. 26 appearance in District Court.
