Surry County Sheriff Reports


DOBSON — The Surry County Sheriff’s Office has released the following arrest reports:

• Tina Jennings Ayers, 36, of Red Brush Road, Mount Airy, was served an order for arrest Sept. 12 at the courthouse for failure to appear in court Aug. 22 to face a charge of removing a shoplifting security alarm from merchandise. She was given a $10,000 secured bond and an Oct. 24 court date.

She also has a Nov. 1 court date for these charges: possession of meth, possession of marijuana (up to one-half ounce), possession of marijuana paraphernalia, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Nov. 14 she has a court appearance on charges of failing to apply for a new vehicle title and driving with no insurance.

• Christopher Reuben Clark, 33, of Booker Street, Mount Airy, was served warrants Sept. 13 at the county detention center for Carroll County, Virginia. The charges are misdemeanor food stamp fraud and felony fugitive from justice, both dated Sept. 13. He was given a $6,000 secured bond and an Oct. 4 court date in Hillsville, Virginia.

• Christian Renae Turner, 35, of Greensboro, was served with warrants for Guilford County at the Dobson courthouse Sept. 12. The charges are failure to appear in court in March for driving while license expired and a May charge of failure to return rental property. She was given a $500 secured bond and a Sept. 22 court date in Guilford County.

• Jeffrey Scott Bumlee, 51, of White Pines Country Club Road, Mount Airy, was served an order for arrest Sept. 12 at the courthouse for failure to appear in court Sept. 6 for a charge of assault on a female. He was given a $1,000 secured bond and an Oct. 4 court date.

• Richard Lee Baldwin, 48, of Rockwood Drive, Mount Airy, was served a warrant Sept. 13 on a charge of assault on a female. The victim is listed as Candy Jones of the home. Baldwin was confined at the county detention center with no bond given. He received an Oct. 13 court date.

• Elijah Blaise Calloway, 18, of Bon Aire Road, Elkin, was served a warrant Sept. 13 charging him with assault on a female at the county courthouse. The victim is listed as Cassidy Elliott Thomas of Mount Airy. He was was confined at the county detention center with no bond given. He received an Oct. 13 court date.

• Travis Lee Shumate, 32, of Clover Lane, Mount Airy, was served a warrant Sept. 13 at the courthouse on a charge of violating a restraining order given to Jessica Yount of Mount Airy. He was given a $1,000 secured bond and a court appearance later that same day.

• Larry Mitchell Linville, 43, of Siloam Road, Mount Airy, was served an order for arrest Sept. 13 on a charge of failure to pay child support. He was given a $3,126.42 cash bond and a Sept. 25 court date.

• Herbert Watkins Newman Jr., 41, of Barney Venable Road, Pilot Mountain, was served an order for arrest Sept. 15 at the magistrate’s office for failure to appear in court. He was given a $30,000 secured bond and a Sept. 26 court date for the following charges: carrying a concealed firearm, possession of meth, possession of both schedule IV and schedule VI drugs, possession of marijuana paraphernalia, and having a fictitious/altered vehicle registration.

• Michael Travis Upchurch, 33, of Sam Marion Road, Pinnacle, was served an order for arrest Sept. 15 at the magistrate’s office for failure to appear in court. He was given a $5,000 unsecured bond and an Oct. 11 court date for charges of driving while impaired and probation violation as well as the consideration of the revocation of his license for 30 days and the seizure of his vehicle.
