Northern Hospital was recently included in Becker’s Hospital Review 100 Great Community Hospitals list.
According to Becker’s, the 100 list includes independent community hospitals as well as facilities affiliated with large health systems. Hospitals on the list range from those serving rural geographies to those caring for smaller communities outside of larger metropolitan areas.
“Hospitals on the list are recognized for clinical quality, operational excellence and/or economic impact on their surrounding area,” according to Northern officials.
Northern Hospital is an independently operated acute care facility. Since 2015, Northern has achieved status as a Primary Stroke Center with The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval. Northern has been consecutively recognized for Patient Safety Excellence by Healthgrades and has received six consecutive grade A’s for patient safety by The LeapFrog Group. In 2017, the hospital opened its doors to Cardiac Rehabilitation, a robust and ever-growing in-house program since day one.
Northern is one of three North Carolina hospital recognized on the 100 Great Community Hospitals list. For the purposes of the list, Becker’s defines a community hospital as a facility with no more than 550 beds.
