U.S. Air Force Airman Dale A. Bowen graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

Bowen is the son of Carrie A. and Freddie L. Bowen of Fancy Gap, Va., and grandson of Carol and Leroy Bowen of Woodlawn, Va., and Catherine Shortridge of Hillsville, Va.

The airman completed an eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

He is a 2013 graduate of Carroll County High School, Hillsville, Virginia.

U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Jesse L. White graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

He is the son of Loreen and Jonathan White of Roaring River and grandson of Mary White of Elkin.

The airman completed an eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

White earned distinction as an honor graduate.

The airman graduated in 2011 from East Wilkes High School, Ronda, and earned a bachelor’s degree in 2016 from Appalachian State University, Boone.
