Surry County Sheriff Reports


DOBSON — The Surry County Sheriff’s Office has released the following incident reports:

• A Pepsi vending machine was the victim at 2170 W. Pine St. (the address for Mount Airy Quality Plus gas station) on May 12. The crimes of burglary by breaking and entering, larceny and criminal damage to property were filed by Pepsi-Cola and employee Grant Elliott Gibson. Damaged was a dollar bill validator valued at $500, and $60 in Pepsi products were taken by an unknown suspect.

• Another Pepsi machine on the same road was hit a week-and-a-half later. This one was at 2540 W. Pine St. (Dan Valley Tractor) and was hit overnight between May 22-23. Rodney Kenyon Johnson reported that the security lock was broken to gain entry, causing $100 in damage, with an unknown amount of cash removed.

• An unknown person broke into an outbuilding in Pilot Mountain between May 5-12. Angus Jackson Tucker and Mark Tucker reported that a security gate was damaged to gain entry, causing $200 in damage. Then a wooden garage door panel was taken, valued at $75.

• Kevin Powell Motorsports, of Winston-Salem, reported damage to a pickup while it was at a residence on Westfield Road May 13. The 2011 Ford F-150 was a black Harley Davidson edition, according to the report. Employee William Matthew Leonard also is listed on the report which gives estimates the damage to the truck at $5,000. The suspect was listed as a 32-year-old white male, and the case is listed as closed by arrest; the arrest report was not included with the incident report.

• James Newton Callahan reported a breaking and entering at his property on Old U.S. 601, north of Dobson. Between May 12-13, unknown person(s) broke into the location, causing damage to three exterior doors and several ceiling tiles. The report estimates damage to the doors at $300 and ceiling tiles at $400.

• Veronica Lee Sales, of Mulberry Church Road, Elkin, reported damage at the property from a family dispute on May 14. Sales and Krista Heral White said that a 20-year-old white female struck a basement door (causing $30 in damage) and a mailbox (valued at $30). The case is under further investigation.

• Kathryn Elaine and Michael Elliott Kyle, of Rockford Road, Dobson, reported a breaking and entering on May 14. The Kyles said someone forced open a basement door to gain entry then stole an antique sickle valued at $75. The suspect is listed as a 61-year-old white male. The case is under further investigation.

• Patrick Friedel Lyons, of Quaker Road, reported damage to his fence on May 15 by an unknown person. He said a vehicle struck his fence between 12:15-12:30 a.m., causing $300 in damage. The case is under further investigation.

• Earl Lynn Sneed, of N.C. 268, Elkin, reported a larceny at the home on May 12. Reported stolen were an $800 China set, spice rack ($75), comforter and quilt ($150), three oil lamps ($50), clothing ($200) and other items ($100). The suspect is listed as a 36-year-old white female. The case is under further investigation.

• Joshua Blake Eleva, of Neal Road, Mount Airy, reported that a girl stole his iPhone at his home on May 17. The 19-year-old male said that a 12-year-old white female took his gold iPhone 5S (valued at $300). The case is under further investigation.

• Damm Marianne Gaziano, of Siloam Road, Ararat, reported fraud on May 19. She stated that her ex-husband took an undisclosed amount of money out of her bank account by forging her name between May 15-19. The case is under further investigation.

• Dexter William Hall, of Siloam Road, Mount Airy, reported the theft of a handgun on May 19. Hall said the gun was taken sometime between April 25 and May 18 by an unknown person. The Hi-Point 9mm pistol is valued at $200.

• Jean Louis Camacho and Zaccheaus Nathaniel Jones-Frost reported personal items stolen by an unknown person while they were shopping at a convenience store at 1560 E. Pine St. (the address for the Dollar General store across from Flat Rock Elementary School). Camacho reported losing a debit card and $120 in cash. Jones-Frost reported losing a $20 wallet and a social security card.

• Angel Mario Garcia Santos, of N.C. 268, Elkin, reported a Leonard’s utility trailer removed from the home between May 14-20. The 2015 trailer is valued at $2,500.

• Billie Dale Coalson, of Laurel Springs Church Road, Mount Airy, reported a 5×8 utility trailer stolen from the residence between May 20-22. The trailer is valued at $1,000.

• The Gas and Go on Cook School Road reported property damage and theft on May 21. Tammy Marion Cooke reported that the coin-operated air compressor had been damaged and an unknown amount of coins removed overnight.

• Heather Leigh Riggins, of Mountain Park Road, State Road, reported some items stolen from the home by a known suspect on May 21. Reported taken were an HP laptop (valued at $500), Samsung phone charger ($100), makeup brushes ($20) an 20 Xanax pills ($20). The case is under further investigation.
