Members of the Mountain View Gardeners Garden Club were delighted to have Ron Morris as guest speaker for their March meeting held at the Historic Moore House.

Morris is an author and retired as the curator for all animals at the North Carolina Zoo. He is past president of the Audubon Society of Forsyth County. Morris leads eco-safaris extensively in Africa and Latin America.

He shared suggestions for bird-friendly gardening along with recommending several ideas to attract birds to our yards. He explained that birds need water to drink and also to bathe and keep their feathers in shape. Club members were encouraged to plant native flowers, shrubs and trees that offer food, especially seeds and fruits to birds and emphasized that our gardens need to provide shelter and cover where birds can hide, rest in the shade to nest and raise their young.
